Arsenal 0-0 Manchester United

Arsenal and Manchester United were held to a 0-0 draw in a tightly contested Women’s Super League clash at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners controlled possession and applied sustained pressure, particularly in the second half, but failed to convert their chances into goals.

The turning point came in the 65th minute, when Manchester United were reduced to 10 players following Jayde Riviere’s second yellow card. Despite being a player down, United showed strong defensive organisation and resilience to secure a valuable point away from home.

The match also marked the debut of recent signings on both sides. Manchester United introduced Lea Schüller and Hanna Lundkvist, while Arsenal handed first minutes to Smilla Holmberg, highlighting the growing depth in both squads.

Liverpool 0–0 London

Liverpool and London played out a frustrating but intense goalless draw, in a match defined by tactical discipline and defensive organisation. From the opening minutes, both teams prioritised structure, limiting space and denying each other clear opportunities in the final third.

Liverpool looked to impose themselves through sustained possession and pressing phases, particularly in wide areas, but struggled to convert promising build-ups into shots on target. London, meanwhile, remained compact and patient, absorbing pressure and attempting to exploit transitions when possible.

Despite an increase in tempo during the second half, neither side found the decisive moment. Goalkeepers were rarely tested, as last-ditch defending and a lack of cutting edge kept the scoreline unchanged. A point apiece reflects a contest where control outweighed creativity, leaving both teams with mixed feelings at full-time.

Chelsea 5–0 West Ham

Chelsea delivered one of the standout performances of Matchday 12 with a dominant 5-0 victory over West Ham, underlining their attacking depth and title ambitions. From the outset, the Blues controlled possession, dictating the rhythm and pinning West Ham deep in their own half.

Chelsea’s movement and fluidity between the lines consistently disrupted West Ham’s defensive shape, allowing them to create chances through both central combinations and wide overloads. The goals came as a reward for sustained pressure, with Chelsea maintaining intensity throughout the match.

West Ham struggled to contain Chelsea’s pace and precision, finding little respite as wave after wave of attacks followed. Even after building a comfortable lead, Chelsea showed no sign of slowing down, managing the game professionally and finishing with a comprehensive and confidence-boosting win.

Manchester City 2–0 Everton

Manchester City secured a controlled 2-0 victory against Everton in a performance built on patience and balance. City dominated possession early on, circulating the ball efficiently while waiting for openings against a disciplined Everton side.

Everton initially defended well, limiting City to half-chances, but the sustained pressure eventually told. Once City broke the deadlock, they grew in confidence, moving the ball quicker and finding more space between the lines.

Defensively, City remained composed and rarely looked troubled, neutralising Everton’s attempts to counter. The second goal effectively sealed the match, allowing City to manage the closing stages with authority and continue their push near the top of the WSL table.

Tottenham 1–0 Leicester City

Tottenham claimed a narrow but vital 1-0 win over Leicester City in a closely contested encounter. The match was played at a high intensity, with both sides showing commitment and defensive resilience.

Spurs gradually took control of possession, looking to stretch Leicester through wide play and quick passing sequences. Leicester, however, remained organised and difficult to break down, forcing Tottenham to stay patient.

The decisive moment ultimately came from sustained pressure rather than dominance, and once ahead, Spurs focused on game management. Leicester pushed forward late on in search of an equaliser, but Tottenham held firm to secure three crucial points.

Aston Villa 2–1 Brighton & Hove Albion

Aston Villa edged out Brighton 2-1 in an entertaining and competitive fixture. Villa started with intent, pressing high and looking to assert control early, which paid off as they built momentum and confidence.

Brighton responded well, growing into the match and testing Villa’s defensive organisation with periods of sustained possession. The contest remained open throughout, with both teams creating chances and showing attacking ambition.

In the latter stages, Brighton applied late pressure in search of an equaliser, but Villa showed resilience and composure to see out the result. The win represents a significant step forward for Villa as they continue to build consistency.

Statements, Margins and Momentum

Matchday 12 of the Women’s Super League offered a clear contrast between dominant victories and tightly fought encounters. Chelsea’s emphatic win reinforced their status as title contenders, while Manchester City continued to apply pressure with a controlled performance.

Elsewhere, narrow wins for Tottenham and Aston Villa highlighted the competitiveness of the league, as points become increasingly valuable. Liverpool and London’s draw reflected the fine margins that continue to define the middle of the table.

The matchday also saw new signings and recent arrivals begin to integrate, with several players making early appearances as clubs look to strengthen for the second half of the season.

As the league table evolves, the battle intensifies at both ends , from the title race to the fight for European spots, confirming once again the depth and unpredictability of the WSL.

Manchester city is still leading the table with 33 points followed by Chelsea with 27 and Arsenal with 23 points. Meanwhile Everton, West Ham and Liverpool are struggling at the end of the table with respectively 8, 5 and 4 points.
